Does anyone know if any of the ocean front homes have gone down yet? Anywhere on the island?

Submitted By Jody on October 30, 2012
We also own a home on the ocean in Holgate. I've read that about 5 houses have been exposed/undermined and even that some have floated into the sea (hoping that is a rumor.) We live across from Hurleys. Also heard that Holgate is gone, which I hope is not true also.

Any info from Holgate? Specifically Chatham Ave?

Submitted By NJ DEWD on October 30, 2012
No homes washed out or otherwise local media would be rushing to Holgate to show where the houses once stood etc. Although there is a pic on Beach Haven EOC facebook or Beach Haven Twp facebook - cant recall which - showing a house on beach severely undermined. It is on the top of the main page so you cant miss it.

NJ DEWD...can't find the FB page with the Holgate house. Can you help me out with that...

Submitted By Nancy on October 30, 2012
I don't think that just because the media is not showing pics of LBI, that means no homes were lost. They are not letting anyone on, which does not bode well for the island, and no pictures from after yesterday afternoon have come out at all! I have family with homes there, and I am worried sick.

Submitted By BeachBum01 on October 30, 2012
Nancy, I understand what you mean. I surely hope that NO homes washed out to sea and that Holgate is not washed away because my family also has homes in that area and it is where I always vacation. I can understand no one being allowed back on the island at this time but also would think that that would mean no media being allowed on the island as well. I have not seen any updated pictures since yesterday of LBI either and I too find that alarming.

Any word on Long beach island trailor park?

Submitted By kim on October 30, 2012
someone else had mentioned that there are no *new" photos or info since yesterday afternoon. I also find this alarming. if you look online there is a huge amount of media on the conditions in NY, delaware, atlantic city, ocean city and a lot of towns inland,. what about LBI????? they seem to be skipping right over LBI. why are they not telling or showing us anything?
