Subject: Driving back to NYC on a typical summer Sunday
I LOVE spending weekends in Barnegat Light and would like to stay until as late as possible on Sunday, but I don't want to get stuck in GSP traffic going home. When is the best time to make my getaway? Early afternoon, late afternoon, after dinner, after 10:00pm???

I'd say your best bet is very early morning.Alot of people like to stay on the beach (if weather is nice).Other than that late evening.

A few times this year I left around supper time on a Saturday or Sunday and really did not hit much traffic. It was smooth sailing.

As a follow up....
I left Barnegat light at 7:15. Hit a bit of traffic up at the northbound GSP Local/Express exchange (exit 102?) and a little more traffic after that. In any event, I made it home to New Rochelle by 10:00pm. Without traffic, it is normally a 2:15 to 2:30 trip. So we had a great beach weekend and didn't have to sit in bumper to bumper tarffic all the way home. WIN/WIN!!
P.S. Thanks for the advice.
