Subject: Our LBI Dining Experience
Hello all! We came down to LBI this past weekend for the first time ever and in the spirit of following others examples I thought I would share my dining experiences with everyone. We stayed at the Mariner hotel around 34th Street (I think) so most of our reviews are about restaurants near the hotel. We got down on Friday night and ate dinner at the Terrace Tavern which we found to be over priced and not at all worth the money. Saturday morning we ate at the Dockside Diner which was very busy and despite the long wait for our food, it was good and it was served hot. We ate lunch on Saturday at the California Grill and found that to be very good as well. We had pizza that was hot and crisp...just the way I like it! Saturday night we ate dinner at the Beachside Café and found that to be excellent. Not very busy but it was enjoyable and the food was great! Sunday morning we ate breakfast at the Beachside again and enjoyed that as much as dinner the previous night. We went back to the California Grill for lunch on Sunday and had sandwiches that were also very good. It is good to see consistency in the local restaurants. Sunday night we went to Robertos for dinner and although pricy, we loved it and thought it was worth the money. All in all it was a great weekend on LBI...We will be back for sure!

We come down here all year long. Im finding most of my favorite places have jacked up their prices a bit too much. Not as crowded as it should be this time of year. On the other hand more places have extended happy hours and early bird dinner specials. People are tightening their belts watching their spending.

Glad to hear you had a nice time.

I went to Howards this Saturday and it was terrible. Everything was "butchered" by the chef. Take a beautiful lobster and turn it into a burned crisp, throw some fries on it and they call it their "specialty": So overpriced.

Went to Yellowfin on Sunday and the quality of food was amazing. Food was fresh, presented beautifully and tasted great. Prices were the same as Howard's!

I share your pain Bennie Haven...I ate at Howards too and thought it was not worth the money. I know others who have tried it and liked it so maybe I hit it on an off night. I agree with "Just Visiting" on his or her reviews too. I can't stand the Terrace Tavern but I have eaten at the Beachside Cafe, Dockside, California Grill and Robertos and found them all to be excellent

I agree with you "Just Visiting" on your reviews. Another place I visited while I was on the island the last two weeks was the Plantation in Harvey Cedars. I loved it so much I went three nights in a row. They have an excellent happy hour drink menu from 4 to 7 every night, try the sangria or pina tini, I originally went there for the mojitos and I found I did not enjoy them at all, they are not sweet enough! But their other drinks on the happy hour menu are fantastic and only 5 dollars for a mixed drink! Also their bar menu has excellent prices and excellent food! We tried just about everything on it and it was all great. Also delicious were their coffee's with liqour in them and their creme brulee. I highly recommend a visit to the Plantation.

Plantation is a very good restaurant. Owned by the same owners as DaddyO's.

Agreed! Yes to Beachside Cafe, Dockside, California and Robertos. Beach House recent price increases have pushed it to the dark side in my opinion.

I agree with Dewd as well. Both of Steve's restaurants (Cali Grill and Dockside) are good, I think Beachside is excellent and Robertos is good too. Beach House did up their prices which is a shame because they are nice people and have a nice place there.

Beware of Dockside Diner's "extras" on the menu. The new look has brought new prices...

I noticed Dockside raised their prices too. In my opinion there are better options out there...
