Question:
Asked By Cheryl on August 13, 2010
Subject: LBI Dial A Ride Bus
Hi, I am coming to Beach Haven for my vacation very soon. I want to know if anybody on here has used the LBI Dial A Ride Trolley Bus Transportation. The one where you pay $10 and they pick you up and take you to where you would like to go. I am not talking about the Atlantic City run which I know they do every day. The bus service that gets you around the island. Has anybody used this? What was your experience with it? Thanks.

Cheryl, I wish I could help but I've never ridden the trolley. However I did find this amusing tidbit posted by two graduate students researching the infrastructure of LBI:
Excerpt of their post 06/24/10
"Project 1: Public Transportation"
"Dial-A-Ride completely unknown to tourists, but the Nardi Party Bus is a known landmark. Why?"

Wow! I've been coming to LBI for years and thought the trolley was for tours - never realized you could call them for a ride.

This trolley goes to Atlantic City? How do you get a hold of them? If I had know this I would have used it many times by now.

Does the trolly run on a schedule? Is a monthly or seasonal pass available? Are there other forms of transportation avail? I am looking for alternatives for my elderly parents for getting around the island this coming summer.

There is no trolly. There is a bus that runs that I believe is called "Trolly Tours" but it is not on a frequent schedule. A lot depends on where your parents plan to go as to what is best for them.

Ask your question again as a separate question, not as a part of an old thread, and others will be much more likely to see it and share their experiences.

No experience with the Dial a Ride but don't trust them for wedding transportation, they left 35 of our wedding guests at Bonnet Island Estate for a wedding at 11:00pm because we were 2 minutes late leaving the wedding. Our complaints were met with blaming us for not ending wedding early and getting people on the bus before 11:00 Driver left us at 11:01.

When you miss a bus, remember that it's YOU who missed the BUS - not the other way around. You can't blame them for doing exactly what they said they would do (leave at 11).

If it were an airplane, would you have complained to the airline that they didn't hold the plane for you when you arrived late to the airport?
