Question:
Asked By Cheryl on November 9, 2005
Subject: Morrison's Update
I was just wondering what is happening with the space that use to be Morrison's? Are they going to rebuild or is somebody else going to build something on it? Will nothing be done to it? I just wanted an update.

The last statement made by the family that owns it was from the time of the fire. They said they would rebuild.

I was speaking to a reliable barber in Beach Haven and he heard they are going to rebuilt it as a members only restaurant. For slip users of Morrision's. Not open to the general public.

That is a very interesting rumor, but it doesn't make any financial sense. Limiting your customer base makes it hard to pay the bills (and taxes!).

I hope that rumor isn't true, Gus. What a disappointment that would be to those patrons who loved Morrisons and are not slip users. I think it would be sad to see the new Morrisons and not be able to go in.

From what I understand it may be rebuilt as a convenience store for the waterway, very similar in fact to what Peg & Pete Morrison originally opened in 1946.
