MR. JOHN posted on June 17, 2015
Someone named Jose said I need to put the construction portapotty on the curb so people passing by will have a bathroom to use. Is that the custom in Holgate? I never heard of people using your portapotty before. I had one in Princeton during renovation but it was only for the workers.

I just received our flood insurance bill for this year. It increased by only 5%. I don't get it. I was expecting at least a 12% increase maybe up to 25%. How much have others increased?

Summer 2013 posted on September 2, 2013
Well Summer 2013 has come to an end. I can say that when I arrived back on LBI on November 5, 2012 after Sandy I was not sure that either LBI or I would have a summer season. With all the damage to homes, no food stores, so many restaurants, hotels, stores damaged, no natural gas service and mud and debris everywhere it was hard to imagine a sunny bright and vibrant LBI.
Many thanks to the Mayor and Councils, police, fire, EMS, OEM, Health Departments, Building Departments, DPW's up and down the Island for a truly amazing job. To Ocean County for everything they did, the Air and Army National Guard, LA State Police another big Thank-You. To Jetty, Lowes and Home Depot Thanks for all you did. To volunteers from across the USA we can never really thank you enough. To all the people in the LBI community, the biggest Thank you of all for digging in, digging out, repairing, rebuilding and remaking our Island into the beautiful family location it is again today.

Since Sandy, has anyone received their last 3 water bills with no water usage - just the base of $125 due? Also- if the meter (town's meter that was installed by the town) was damaged and is now not functioning who is responsible for replacement or repair?

Condition of Island posted on July 17, 2013
Had a chance to get up from Florida last weekend and drove the entire lenght of the island. I was amazed to see LBI in such great shape, if fact from Beach Haven north it looked like Sandy never happened. I saw some damage in the south end, houses sitting up on pilings, etc, But way to go LBI for an amazing restoration job.

Real estate posted on June 24, 2013
My realtor just sent me an ENORMOUS list of foreclosures and short sales on LBI, many of which are very expensive properties in Loveladies. Is this this the result of Sandy? Is it typical of second home owners to just walk away from their properties? There were at least 200 homes on the list, from all over the island. Just wondering....

Pearl and 5th street Beach Haven posted on April 21, 2013
I noticed end of the street dune breakthrough at Pearl and 5th street Beach Haven. Looks like they have survey markers for the new walkway on to the beach and possibly the new gazebos to be rebuilt. BUT~~~ the survey markers (which is about same dimension of the old gazebo) are WAY out onto the beach. I would say these markers are at least twice the distance from where the asphalt ends to where the old gazebo stood. Where these markers are now will easily be in the water at high tide. Is this new placement in anticipation of new beach replenishment heights?
