Need some help getting lot/block number posted on November 7, 2013
Hey, I don't have the opportunity to get down to Ship Bottom Boro but I need to find the lot & block number for Carmenuccis Pizza (now closed) at 18th and the Blvd. I need to find the owner and I can search on the county website IF I have a lot and block number. Perhaps someone in the real estate field or other has access to that public info? Thank you in advance!!

Home located at 1400 S. Beach Avenue posted on November 24, 2012
My parent's used to own the home located on 1400 South Beach and Glendola Avenue.
Did the house survive the storm? We owned it during the 50's and 60's. I spent all my summers in that house. I am really concerned as to whether it survived. I truly loved going down the shore all summer. I am so anxious to hear if the house is still there.

Hurricane, General and Roofing Contractor from South Jersey is doing business with LBI residents. General Manager and Supervisor are driving 160 miles/110 miles roundtrip daily. They would consider staying in LBI in a house which needs restoration, remediation and remodeling in exchange for housing. Does this sound feasible?Obviously, the two would be working outside during the day but would work evenings and weekends on the house. This might be ideal for either (1) low or no insurance flood coverage (2) the house would be empty during the renovation anyway or (3) out of state owner who needs help. Contractor has 50+ years experience in commericial & residential building and remodeling, NJ licensed and insured, with many references. Lastly, what is the best/correct forum for the owner and contractor to find each other?

Winter Long Weekend posted on October 19, 2012
My wife and I are interested in coming back to LBI with our family for a long weekend this winter. We are curious to know what an "average" rate to be for a 3 night stay for a 4 bedroom for those homes that do rent during the winter months? I have done some research via homeaway and vrbo, but wanted to query this forum. Thanks!

Just a Suggestion which people should really heed. If you ae coming to this Island, for a weekend, a week or whatever, and have no idea as to where to stay. #1 -Ask folks at home where they have stayed. #2 - Take a trip down and check the place out before you invest your money and #3 - Check Tripadvisor.com "POOR" category for the hotel/motel you ae intersted in NOT the glorious reviews, which we have found can be added by the owners. There is a motel in our area that is a disgrace, and the complaints show it too be ture. However, as soon as one bad review pops up, 3 excellent ones follow so as to remove the bad review from the top page when you are checking the place out. I wouldn't let my pet stay there under any circumstances. Bed bugs were written about it a year ago, and the response from the owner, they get Terminix in once a month to check it out. If God forbid, you get bedbugs, Terminix is not correcting the situation on a monthly visit. The website is busy, busy and moreso, and the owner really gives you the pitch to stay there, but you will be sorry. We see customers demanding their money back when they arrive, but that is not happening either. In the off-season it is turned over to the state to shelter people and when it opens a quick spit and polish opens it for this glorious summer vacation spot!?!?!? Folks, check ou the complaint section (they won't lie) and especially if you see the same complaints one after another. You work to hard for your money, and yes, you can find reasonable places on this Island that are immaculate. Don't be fooled by the website, and the Tripadviser reviews. The LBI Board of Health should be more active in this area as is the police department as they are constantly called here in the off season. This place is a dump.

Real Estate agency puts hold on weeks posted on June 24, 2012
I rent out my home for the summer through 3 different real estate agencies. I have been doing this for the past 5 years or so. Just found out one of the agencies for the 2nd time(!) has put a hold on my property for a two week rental that they are trying to convince me to accept a low ball rate from a perspective renter. Of course, I countered. Turns out while, the agency, the prospective renter, and I are "negotiating", the agency put a "hold" on those 2 weeks effectively blocking the other 2 agencies from showing my home! As soon as I found out, I told the agency to unhold the weeks. They say they were doing it as a courtesy for me, as it would be better to have 2 weeks rented than one week at a time! They unheld my 2 weeks and then a couple of hours later called to say the prospective renter agreed to my rate (after initially saying that rate was too high for the renter).

The first time this agency held my home was a couple of years ago and it was only for 1 week, but, they held it for over a weekend! Again, we were in negotiations with a prospective renter. I let it go then. The other 2 agencies have never countered me on the rates or even held any weeks unless they were absolutely sure the renters agreed (and which I was informed about).

Is "holding" the weeks a common practice or not? Do you think the 3rd agency is being deceptive? I wonder if this agency routinely "holds" weeks so the homeowner has no choice but to negotiate with them. I've never thought to monitor their site or the other agencies' sites to see if weeks were being held off the market. We are turned off by this agency, but, they are one of the most popular ones on the island. I am wondering if this is the tactic they use to get rentals.
