Pearl and 5th street Beach Haven posted on April 21, 2013
I noticed end of the street dune breakthrough at Pearl and 5th street Beach Haven. Looks like they have survey markers for the new walkway on to the beach and possibly the new gazebos to be rebuilt. BUT~~~ the survey markers (which is about same dimension of the old gazebo) are WAY out onto the beach. I would say these markers are at least twice the distance from where the asphalt ends to where the old gazebo stood. Where these markers are now will easily be in the water at high tide. Is this new placement in anticipation of new beach replenishment heights?

The Shack posted on February 6, 2013
A few years ago... didn't a local businessman (the one who owns some billboards on 72) create a fund and collected monetary donations to rebuild the shack? What ever happened to that??

Who Still Needs Help ?? posted on November 29, 2012
Who still needs help?? The storm has passed, and attention is focusing elsewhere. Some of us from LBI have gotten our houses in order -- or at least as in order as we can for now. But we know that there are still friends on LBI who need help. Who are you, how do we know, and how can we help??

Storm Tax Assessment posted on November 26, 2012
This was posted on Beach Haven website:

If your dwelling suffered substantial structural damage from Hurricane Sandy, please click the link below and fill out a Property Tax Assessment Review Form and return it to the Assessor’s office as soon as possible or by the end of the year with all supporting documents attached.
Material Depreciation will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Repairs that have been principally completed by January 1st will not be considered for assessment reduction. Any assessment reduction that may occur resulting from Storm Damage will take effect as of January 1, 2013. However, your 1st and 2nd quarter tax payments will remain as previously billed. Questions in this regard should be directed to the Municipal Tax Collector.
If an assessment reduction is granted due to material damage from the storm, the property will likely be subject to a future ADDED ASSESSMENT upon completion of the restoration work. The Added Assessment will be pro-rated beginning the 1st of the month following completion of the work. A separate Tax Bill is generated by the Tax Collector for Added Assessments in October.

Power in Beach Haven posted on November 18, 2012
I went to our place yesterday again for more clean up. We have 120volt power but not 240 yet. Why would this be? I was able to set up my dehumidifier (after I installed a new receptacle) but I could not run my heat.

Electrical posted on November 15, 2012
Has anyone heard of how the town inspectors are ruling home electrical systems? Are they requiring only component replacement (outlets, switches, etc), of are they requiring all new wires to be installed that got wet? I was told to call the town in another week to see when the Stafford inspector MAY be able to look at our place to determine if they will allow our power to be turned on yet. The water missed out breaker box, but I think it hit the meter.

When they say that police will have a section blocked off to vehicular and pedestrian traffic during gas restoration does that mean we will not have access to our homes?

Power posted on November 12, 2012
We are on Bayside, Beach Haven and we have no power yet. When I called AC Electric today they said they are waiting for the town to tell them to turn it back on in our area. Why is this? The house next door has power. Is the town inspecting houses before letting the power go back on?

Beach Replenishment posted on November 8, 2012
I wonder how the 7 obstructionists to the beach replenishment made out during the storm. I heard that the area that received the new beach made out much better than those without. Guess they are having regrets now.
