from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Center City)
Cross the Benjamin Franklin Bridge into New Jersey and follow the signs to Cherry Hill (Route 38) and the beaches (mainly you'll be staying on the left).
Once you've made the left onto the ramp that enters Route 38,
you'll have to quickly get all the way to the right onto Route 70.
Take 70 until you reach the junction for Route 72 East (It's a circle, but you don't have to go around, stay to the right).
Follow 72 for 26 miles right onto the island.
The trip takes about 1 and 1/2 hours.
from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Northeast)
Over the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge onto Route 73 South.
Go to the Route 70 intersection and head East.
When you reach the Route 72 Circle, take Rt. 72 East onto Long Beach Island (about 26 miles).
from South Philadelphia (Walt Whitman Bridge)
Take route 42 East to 35 North.
35 will take you to 70 East.
or
You can take 42 to the NJ Turnpike Exit 4.
Than use 73 South to reach 70 East.

Take the train to Atlantic City.
Then take NJ Transit Bus Route 559 to Manahawkin.
