Spray Beach History
William Ringgold started the small community of Spray Beach in 1889. He had built a hotel in North Beach Haven called the Dolphin Inn, but the hotels at Beach Haven were more popular, and the Dolphin Inn did not live up to expectation. So, Mr. Ringgold purchased the area above North Beach Haven known as Cranberry Hill.
Many people bought parcels of land from Ringgold and built summer homes in the area. Ringgold's daughter is credited with naming the small vactation community Spray Beach. The large home built by the Ringgold family eventually was renovated and became the Spray Beach Hotel.
