Peahala Park History
Long before the establishment of Beach Haven and the coming of the railroad, Long Beach Island was a hunter's paradise. Thomas Bond's Long Beach House, the Old Mansion, and the Connahassett House at Harvey Cedars, all played host to sportsmen who came to the Island to take advantage of the enormous quantity of gamebirds.
After the Peahala Gunning Clubhouse was burnt down in 1940, the area remained mostly undeveloped until the 1950's.
