Many individual communities have developed on Long Beach Island. Most are governed by Long Beach Township, while five are independent boroughs.
Here at LBInet, you can view information concerning each individual community. Learn more about the history of each town, see its location on a map, see a list of community events, get the address and phone numbers of the municipal governments and find out where the beaches are and how to get beach tags.
Ship Bottom, Surf City and Beach Haven are probably the most commercially developed areas on the island, which is to say you'll find more shopping and retail activity. Barnegat Light boasts the island's major historical landmark, Barnegat Lighthouse. The smaller communities range from mildly active areas like Brant Beach and Holgate to quiet, almost private get-a-ways like The Dunes.
